Apryse Sale Explored by Thoma Bravo

Apryse Sale Explored by Thoma Bravo

Okay, so get this: it looks like Thoma Bravo, you know, the buyout firm, might be thinking about selling Apryse. It's a company that does stuff with documents, like making them, editing them, all that jazz. People who might want to buy them have been reaching out, and apparently, the deal could be worth over $3 billion! Idk how they come up with these numbers, but wow.

They're working with some fancy investment bankers over at Lazard to figure things out. Sources are saying other private equity firms are already interested. It's possible Thoma Bravo might even keep a little piece of the company if a deal happens. But hey, nothing is set in stone yet, and they were super hush-hush about it, as you might expect.

Thoma Bravo didn't want to say anything, and Apryse and Lazard didn't even get back to Reuters when they asked about it. Seems kinda secretive, tbh. So, Apryse is based in Denver, Colorado, and they basically make the tech developers use to handle digital documents in apps for phones and computers. Think creating, editing, and changing documents, and adding those features to their own apps.

Guess who uses them? Big names like Novartis, Wells Fargo, and even DocuSign! According to some folks in the know, Apryse is making over $100 million in what they call EBITDA, which is basically how much money a company makes before a bunch of expenses. And they're growing pretty fast too, over 20 percent a year! Because of that, people think a sale could value the company at like, 30 times their EBITDA, or even more. Crazy high!

Fun fact: Apryse used to be called PDFTron back in the day. It started way back in 1998. Thoma Bravo bought them in 2021, and then they changed the name to Apryse a couple of years later. Some other folks, Silversmith Capital Partners and the management team, still own a part of the business.

Since Thoma Bravo took over, Apryse has bought up nine other companies to add more features and reach more people around the world. Just recently, they announced they bought a company from the Netherlands that does digital documents, and last year they bought one that uses AI.
