Big Sale: Thoma Bravo Might Sell Apryse for Billions

Hey, so get this! There's this company called Thoma Bravo, right? They buy and sell businesses. Anyways, they're thinking about selling Apryse, which is a company that helps with digital documents, like making and editing PDFs and stuff. They've apparently gotten some people interested in buying it for over $3 billion! Crazy, huh?

The folks at Thoma Bravo are working with some investment bankers, you know, people who help with big deals like this, over at Lazard. Apparently, other private equity firms are already looking at Apryse. The people who told us this news asked to not be named because it's all kinda secret right now. They also said, and this is important, that a sale isn't definitely going to happen. Thoma Bravo didn't say anything when asked, and Apryse and Lazard didn't get back to Reuters.

So, Apryse is based out in Denver, Colorado. They make this tech that developers use to build apps for phones and computers. It lets those apps do things like create, change, and turn digital documents into different formats. It even helps them add those features into their own apps. Their customers include some pretty big names, like Novartis, Wells Fargo, and DocuSign. You can see that on their website.

These sources also mentioned that Apryse makes more than $100 million a year before certain costs, and they're growing super fast, more than 20% each year. They think if it does sell, it could be worth 30 times what it makes or even more! That's a lot of money, right?

By the way, Apryse used to be called PDFTron. It started way back in 1998. Thoma Bravo bought it in 2021. The guy who led that deal was Hudson Smith. They changed the name to Apryse a couple of years later. Turns out, some other investors and the management team still own a piece of the company. Since Thoma Bravo bought it, Apryse has bought nine other companies to make its tech even better and reach more people around the world. Just this week, they announced they bought a company from the Netherlands called TallComponents, and last year they bought one that uses AI called Lead Technologies. Seems like they're always getting bigger!
