Crypto Gone Wrong: Kidnapping and Bitcoin Drama in NYC?

Okay, so get this wild story out of Manhattan's fancy Soho area. Apparently, a 37-year-old guy who deals in crypto got indicted by a grand jury. They're saying he kidnapped a business partner for like, three whole weeks. Seriously!
And it gets worse. Prosecutors say this guy, John Woeltz, was shocking his partner with electric wires and even dangled him over a staircase! All just to try and get him to hand over his Bitcoin password. Can you even imagine?
So, John Woeltz got arrested back on May 23rd. Court papers say this unnamed guy told the cops that Woeltz and another dude, William Duplessie, took his phone, passport, everything on May 6th. They wanted his password so they could swipe his cryptocurrency. Wild, right?
Neither Woeltz nor Duplessie, who's 33, have said if they're guilty or not yet. Their lawyers aren't talking, which, you know, makes sense.
Local news folks have called Woeltz a crypto investor, and they're saying the guy who was allegedly kidnapped is Italian. Both of them apparently had some connection to a crypto hedge fund right there in New York, according to the New York Times, who saw a police report.
When the guy wouldn't give up his password, they reportedly started beating him up real bad. Like, seriously rough stuff. It went on for weeks until he finally managed to get away. They allegedly tied his wrists, hit him in the head with a gun, and even threatened his family, according to the complaints against them.
Duplessie was arrested recently, just on Tuesday actually, and he's supposed to be in court for a hearing on Friday. Both of these guys have been ordered to stay locked up by the judges. Woeltz is set to show up in court on June 11th.
It just makes you wonder, how far would someone go for crypto these days? Pretty wild stuff happening out there, huh?
