Crypto Investor Accused in Wild Kidnap & Bitcoin Password Plot

Okay, so listen up. There's this wild story outta New York that sounds like something out of a crazy movie, tbh. A grand jury just looked into this 37-year-old dude who's into crypto. They're saying he totally kidnapped his business partner right there in fancy Soho for like, three whole weeks. Can you even imagine?
The story is pretty messed up. Prosecutors said this guy, John Woeltz, apparently shocked the partner with electric wires. Yeah, you read that right. And get this, he even dangled him over a staircase. Why? To get his Bitcoin password, of course. Like, seriously? This all went down, and Woeltz got arrested back on May 23rd.
Here's the lowdown from a criminal complaint. A guy told the police that back on May 6th, Woeltz and another dude named William Duplessie took his phone and passport. They were demanding his password so they could snag his cryptocurrency. Woeltz and Duplessie, who's 33, haven't said if they're guilty or not yet. Their lawyers aren't really talking either.
Local news is calling Woeltz a crypto investor, and they're saying the guy who got hurt is Italian. Apparently, both of them had some kind of connection to a crypto hedge fund in NYC, according to the New York Times, which heard about it from a police report.
When the guy wouldn't give up his password, Woeltz and Duplessie allegedly started beating him up. Like, bad. This went on for weeks until he finally got away. They tied his wrists and even hit him on the head with a gun. Plus, they threatened his family. That's what the complaints against them say, anyway.
Duplessie was just arrested on Tuesday, and he's got a court date coming up on Friday for a first hearing. The judges said both of them gotta stay locked up for now. Woeltz is set to go to court again on June 11th. Man, what do you even think about all this?
