Crypto Investor Accused of Kidnapping and Torture Over Bitcoin Password

Okay, so get this crazy story from New York. Apparently, a guy named John Woeltz, who's like a crypto investor and 37 years old, got indicted by a grand jury. Yeah, indicted. The accusation is pretty wild â that he kidnapped his business partner right there in fancy Soho, and get this, held him for three weeks!
The story gets even crazier. Prosecutors are saying Woeltz shocked the poor guy with electric wires and even dangled him over a staircase. Like, seriously, that's messed up! And why? They supposedly wanted his Bitcoin password. Can you even imagine?
So, Woeltz was picked up by the cops back on May 23rd. Court papers say this unnamed guy told New York City police that on May 6th, Woeltz and another dude, William Duplessie, took his gadgets and passport. They basically demanded his password so they could swipe his crypto. Neither Woeltz nor Duplessie, who's 33, have said if they're guilty or not yet. Their lawyers aren't talking, tbh.
The news folks have been calling Woeltz a crypto investor. They also said the guy who was allegedly hurt is Italian. Both of them apparently had connections to a crypto hedge fund in New York, according to the New York Times, who saw like, an internal police report from a law enforcement person.
When the guy wouldn't cough up his password, Woeltz and Duplessie supposedly started beating him up. It was pretty brutal, and it went on for weeks until he finally got away. They even tied him up, hit him in the head with a gun, and threatened his family according to the complaints against them. Duplessie was arrested on Tuesday and has to go to court for a quick hearing on Friday. Both guys have been told to stay locked up by the judges. Woeltz is supposed to be brought to court on June 11th.
