Crypto Kidnapping Shocker: Investor Accused of Brutal Attack

Okay, so get this crazy story about a crypto guy. Apparently, a grand jury just indicted this 37-year-old dude, John Woeltz. The story is he supposedly kidnapped his business partner right there in fancy Soho, like, New York City, for three whole weeks! Can you even imagine?
Prosecutors are saying things got seriously messed up. They claim this guy was shocking his partner with electric wires and even hanging him over a staircase. Why? To try and force him to spill his Bitcoin password. Like, seriously?
Court records show Woeltz was arrested back on May 23rd. According to the criminal complaint, the victim, who hasn't been named, told the New York City police that on May 6th, Woeltz and another guy, William Duplessie, took his electronics and passport. They were demanding his password so they could, you know, swipe his cryptocurrency.
Neither Woeltz nor Duplessie, who's 33, have said if they're guilty or not yet. Their lawyers didn't want to talk about it. Local news is reporting that Woeltz is a crypto investor and the guy who got allegedly kidnapped is Italian. The New York Times reported, citing a police report that a law enforcement person saw, that both of them were linked to a crypto hedge fund in New York. Interesting, right?
The complaints against them say that when the victim wouldn't give up his password, Woeltz and Duplessie allegedly started beating him up pretty badly. This went on for weeks until the guy somehow got away. They supposedly tied his wrists, hit him on the head with a gun, and get this, even threatened to kill his family. That's wild.
Duplessie got arrested on Tuesday and has a preliminary court hearing coming up on Friday. Both of these guys have been ordered to stay in detention by the judges. Woeltz is scheduled to be arraigned on June 11th. It makes you wonder, what are the risks in the crypto world? It's kinda scary.
