Dell's AI Server Boom Boosts Profit Forecast

So, like, Dell is doing pretty well! They just said they think they'll make more money this year. This is because people really want those fancy servers they make with Nvidia's powerful chips. You know, the ones for all that AI stuff.

Companies like Dell and also Super Micro Computer are getting lots of orders for these servers. But, tbqh, they're kind of expensive to make, and there's a lot of competition out there, so that can make things a bit tight on the profit side sometimes.

Dell's COO, Jeff Clarke, even said they got like $12.1 billion in orders for AI stuff just this quarter! That's more than they shipped in all of last year, which is kinda wild. They've got a ton of orders to fill now, like $14.4 billion worth. That's a lot of work ahead!

This news came out right after the US Department of Energy announced they're getting a new supercomputer called Doudna. This new supercomputer will use technology from both Dell and Nvidia to do some seriously complex computing jobs. Pretty cool, right?

Dell is now saying they expect to make about $9.40 per share this year, which is a little more than they thought before. They still think their total sales this year will be about the same, though. For the next few months, they expect to make between $28.5 billion and $29.5 billion in sales, and that's actually more than what most analysts were guessing. They also think they'll make about $2.25 per share, which is also better than what others were expecting.

In the first few months of the year, their sales were $23.38 billion, which was also a bit more than expected. Sales for their business stuff, like servers and storage, went up 12% to $10.32 billion. And sales for their computers for regular people went up 5% to $12.51 billion. They did make $1.55 per share in the first quarter, but that was actually a little less than what people were guessing they'd make. Still, overall, seems like they're doing pretty good!
