Infineon and Nvidia Team Up for AI Power

Hey, so get this! There's a German chip company called Infineon, and they just spilled the beans that they're partnering up with Nvidia. You know, the graphics card guys? They're gonna work together on some new chips for basically making sure AI data centers get all the power they need.

Right now, like in most data centers, the high-voltage power comes in as one type, like AC, and then it gets changed into another type, DC, right there inside the servers. But that method kinda wastes a bit of power when it's moving around and getting changed. It's like, why do that extra step?

Since these AI data centers are gonna be using a TON of power, like a whole megawatt per server rack by 2030 (seriously, that's a lot!), Infineon and Nvidia wanna make things better. Their plan is to have a single spot where the power is already DC and then send it out from there. Less wasted energy, you know? It just makes sense, tbh.

Someone from Nvidia, Gabriele Gorla, said that using this new way helps them use less energy for their AI stuff, which is cool for the planet. Plus, it'll still be super powerful and grow as they need it to for all those future AI projects. Pretty neat, huh?
