Shein Plans More Product Safety Tests After EU Warning

Hey, so guess what? Shein, that super-fast fashion place, said on Thursday they're gonna do way more testing on their stuff this year. Why? Well, the big bosses in the European Union basically gave them a heads-up, saying they could get fined if they don't fix things about unsafe things being sold on their site. Yeah, they're serious about it!

Shein is aiming to test 2.5 million products for safety and quality in 2025. That's up from 2 million last year, which is a pretty good jump, right? They also said they're gonna drop $15 million this year just on making sure they're following all the rules. Shein sells their own clothes in like, 150 countries, whoa! But they also have this marketplace thing where other sellers put up toys, gadgets, and homey stuff that gets sent straight from factories, mostly in China, to folks all over the world.

Since they started that marketplace, Shein mentioned they've actually stopped working with over 540 sellers because they weren't following the rules. That's a lot! The EU's consumer protection folks and the European Commission told Shein on Monday that some of their practices aren't cool with EU consumer law. They gave Shein a month to get back to them. What do you think Shein will do?
