Shein Steps Up Product Testing After EU Warning

So, like, you know that super fast fashion place, Shein? Well, they just said they're gonna do way more testing on their stuff this year. Why? Because the folks in the European Union, they kinda warned them they could get fined if they don't sort out some issues with unsafe products on their site. Yeah, it's a bit of a thing.
Shein is aiming to check like 2.5 million products for safety and quality in 2025. That's up from 2 million last year, which is, you know, a decent jump. And they're planning to drop 15 million bucks on making sure they're following the rules this year. They sell their own clothes everywhere, practically, in 150 countries. But they also have this marketplace where other people sell stuff like toys, gadgets, and home things, and it all gets sent straight from factories, mostly in China, to people all over.
Since they started that marketplace, Shein has actually stopped working with over 540 sellers because they weren't playing by the rules. The consumer watchdogs in the EU, along with the European Commission, told Shein on Monday that some of their practices aren't cool with EU consumer law. They gave Shein a month to respond. So, yeah, I guess we'll see what happens with all that.
