Someone's Impersonating White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles?

Okay, so get this. The folks in charge of keeping things safe in the US are looking into something kinda wild. Somebody's apparently pretending to be Susie Wiles, who's like, the main person running things at the White House.

The Wall Street Journal reported this the other day, and they talked to people who know what's going on. Susie apparently told her friends that some of her phone contacts got messed with. This meant the person pretending to be her could get hold of private phone numbers. Good thing it was her personal phone, not the one she uses for government stuff, you know?

According to the Journal, in the last few weeks, a bunch of important people, like senators, governors, and even big company bosses, have been getting calls and messages from someone claiming to be Susie. That sounds pretty sketchy, right?

Neither the White House nor the FBI said anything right away when asked about it. The White House has had a bit of a tough time with keeping their info safe, tbh. Someone who hacked the service one of the former Trump guys used recently got a bunch of messages from all sorts of American officials, Reuters said. And late last year, a different White House person mentioned that the US thinks China's been trying to listen in on calls from 'super important' American politicians. They called this whole thing 'Salt Typhoon.'

Since Susie is a really key person for Trump and basically keeps the White House running, anything on her personal phone would be super interesting to countries that aren't exactly friendly with the US. This isn't the first time Susie's been targeted by hackers either. Back when Trump was running for president again in 2024, hackers who the US says were working for Iran apparently contacted reporters and someone in politics. They had messages they said were from Susie, and some of those even got published.
