Susie Wiles Impersonation: What's Going On?

Okay, so get this: It sounds like some sneaky folks are trying to pretend they're Susie Wiles, you know, the White House chief of staff person. The Wall Street Journal is reporting on it, and apparently, Susie told some of her friends that her personal phone contacts got messed with. This meant the person pretending to be her could get to private phone numbers. Yeah, it was her personal phone, not the one she uses for government stuff.

The Journal says that lately, people like senators, governors, and even big business bosses have been getting messages and calls from someone claiming to be Susie. It's kinda wild, right? The White House hasn't said anything about it yet, unfortunately.

The FBI is taking this super seriously, though. The director, Kash Patel, put out a statement saying they really care about protecting the president, his team, and their cybersecurity. Making sure folks in the administration can talk securely is a big deal for them.

Honestly, the White House has had some trouble with keeping info safe. Remember that hacker who got into the app Mike Waltz, the former Trump national security adviser, used? They grabbed messages from a bunch of US officials. Also, late last year, a White House official mentioned that the US thinks this big Chinese cyber attack thing, called Salt Typhoon, might have been targeting and recording calls from some really important American politicians.

Since Susie is like, a really important person for President Trump and how the White House runs, anything on her personal phone would be super interesting to other countries' spy agencies and other not-so-nice people. Apparently, this isn't the first time hackers have gone after her either. Back in the final months of Trump's 2024 campaign, people the US thinks were working for Iran supposedly contacted journalists and a political person with messages that were sent to and from Susie. Some of those messages even got published. What do you even think about all this?
