Thoma Bravo Might Sell Apryse for Billions

Hey, so you know that company Thoma Bravo? They're apparently thinking 'bout selling Apryse, which is a software company that helps with documents. Like, how you create, change, and make documents work in apps and stuff. Someone told Reuters, you know, the news people, that Thoma Bravo is looking at selling Apryse for over 3 BILLION bucks! Can you believe that? They've even got bankers from Lazard helping them out.
It seems like other private equity firms are already interested. The folks who shared the news said Thoma Bravo might even keep a bit of Apryse for themselves if a deal happens. But, they also said it's not for sure that it will sell, so, you know, don't hold your breath just yet. They didn't want their names used because it's all kinda hush-hush right now.
Reuters tried to ask Thoma Bravo about it, but they didn't say anything. And Apryse and Lazard didn't even answer them back. Awkward, right? Apryse is based in Denver, Colorado, and their tech lets developers put document stuff into their mobile and computer apps. Think about making or editing documents right in an app.
Some big names use Apryse, too! Like Novartis, Wells Fargo, and DocuSign. Pretty cool. The sources for this info said Apryse makes over $100 million a year before all the taxes and stuff, and they're growing really fast, over 20% a year. If a deal does happen, they think it could be worth maybe 30 times what they make annually, or even more!
Apryse used to be called PDFTron, and it started way back in 1998. Thoma Bravo bought it in 2021. The person kinda in charge of that deal for Thoma Bravo was Hudson Smith. They changed the name to Apryse two years later. Some other people, from a company called Silversmith Capital Partners, still own a piece of Apryse, along with the people who run the company.
Since Thoma Bravo took over, Apryse has bought nine other companies to make their software even better and reach more people. Just this week, they announced they bought a company from the Netherlands that does digital documents. And last year, they bought an AI software company too. So yeah, they've been busy!
