Wild Crypto Kidnapping in NYC: What Happened?

So, get this... a grand jury just said this 37-year-old guy, who's apparently into crypto, got arrested for supposedly kidnapping his business partner in fancy Soho for like, three whole weeks! Can you even imagine?
Prosecutors are saying this dude, John Woeltz, who got picked up back in May, and another guy named William Duplessie, did some pretty wild stuff. The story goes they took the victim's phone and passport and basically tried to strong-arm him into giving up his Bitcoin password so they could swipe his crypto. Like, seriously? Talk about messed up.
When the guy wouldn't spill the beans on his password, things apparently got really rough. The complaints say they beat him up, tied his hands, even hit him with a gun, and threatened his family. That's just... wow. He somehow managed to get away after weeks of this, thank goodness.
Local news says Woeltz is a crypto investor and the victim is Italian. Apparently, both of them had some kind of connection to a crypto hedge fund here in New York, according to The New York Times. Duplessie just got arrested recently too and has a hearing soon. Both these guys are being held. Woeltz is due in court again in June. Neither of them have said if they're guilty or not. Their lawyers aren't talking either, which, you know, makes sense.
It really makes you think about the dark side of the crypto world, doesn't it? Like, what lengths will some people go to for money?
